Best Week Ever!
On December 28th, I (Elizabeth) held my sweet 3 week old nephew Jonathan. As I held him I thanked God for his life and prayed he’d have a cousin really really soon. I didn’t know God had already answered my prayer. Earlier that day our son was born.
December 29th we were informed a baby was born and asked to present our profile for birth mom to consider.
December 30th we got the life changing call that birth mom has chosen us and asked us to come ASAP. Baby was born in state so we were at his bedside in less than 3 hours from the call! We got to stay the night with him and got lots of quality time with birth mom.
December 31st we enjoyed a very unique New Year’s party as we celebrated bringing him home late that evening. He started our new year in the best possible way.
Even though he was home with us, it was still a little hard to truly settle in. In the state of Iowa, birth family can reverse their adoption decision within 96 hours of any paperwork being signed. Birth mom did not waiver in her decision and as of Jan 5 this window has passed!
This has been a crazy week full of tears, prayers, excitement, but most importantly joy. We thank the Lord everyday for this little blessing that he has given us. His timing and plan is good and we rejoice in God’s faithfulness in this process.
We still have 6 months of home visits and legal proceedings before he is officially Isaac Scott Degnan, but we are so excited for this cute edition to our family!
Pictures to come when we get more clarity from our agency on when it’s ok to do so on such a public platform. Thank you for sharing in our excitement!
