Paperwork Pause

When I was a kid, I dreaded doing long division. I remember sitting down with tears welling up in my eyes staring at a page of long division along with a dozen or so “copy and do” problems that I had to move to a lined notebook. I remember thinking, “I’m totally capable of doing this, but I also know it’s going to be no fun, redundant, and take an enormous amount of time.” Completing adoption paperwork brought back that same sentiment. I knew it would be a lot work but I had no idea just how much paperwork it would turn out to be.

That is why we are so happy to share we have officially applied to 6 agencies! Last Monday we wrapped up our last agency paperwork packets and sent them on their way! What a big step! We've decided to apply with multiple agencies to shorten our anticipated wait time from 2-5 years down to 10-12 months!

With the paperwork in, we are beginning to get sent potential adoptive situations (more on presenting and matching in the post titled Step 5: Presenting and Matching.). Last week we were sent two possible adoptive situations! The main thing that kept us from being able to pursue these opportunities is lack of funds. Now that paperwork is done, the only thing in our way is having the funding! The sooner we have funding, the sooner we can present. We are growing closer and closer to bringing home a baby!
