Car Seats & Baby Rooms

Our social worker gave us a piece of advice we took to heart. She encouraged us not to make a baby room yet. While she recognizes that different people need to do different things to prepare and process, she’s seen that her families who love deep and fall hard are better off not making a baby room. She warned as we pass the room daily it’d be a constant reminder of not yet being parents. She said every time you present your profile to a brith mom you’ll start picturing yourself in a room with that baby. Each “no, not you” from the birth moms will only bring you further down. “Buy a bassinet, buy a car seat. Wait on the baby room,” she said. We have the bed-side bassinet thanks to my sister. On Prime day we bought ourselves a 50% off car seat that’s supposed to have enough removable layers to last until our child is 10. That was a wake up call for the two of us. baby stuff gets expensive. We now have the essentials for the day we get the call even if it is short notice. We we still plan to wait to turn the guest room to the baby room.
